Your First Visit

Before you arrive for your first acupuncture appointment, we ask you to complete a confidential online comprehensive intake form. You will automatically be prompted to fill the form out when you book your Initial Consultation & Acupuncture Session. If you book your first time appointment in person or over the phone, you can print the downloadable version of the form out, fill it in, and bring it with you to your first session! The acupuncture intake form asks questions about your current state of health, past illnesses, and family history. These questions are important because the holistic approach of Oriental medicine takes everything into account. Your current symptoms may not seem related to past health issues, but our bodies are complex landscapes and everything that happens to them leaves its mark.

Please ensure that you have eaten at least 60 minutes prior to your appointment.  If you are not hungry, have a light snack!

When you arrive for your first appointment, we will review your intake form and discuss your condition(s) with you. Your practitioner will examine your pulse and tongue, which are two of the basic diagnostic methods used in Oriental medicine. The acupuncture points chosen will depend on your condition, but you can expect 5 to 20 needles. Once the needles are inserted and you begin to feel relaxed, you will be able to lie comfortably for 15-40 minutes with the needles in place. Your practitioner will come check on you during your session and this will be done quietly as to not disturb you. Many people find acupuncture treatment deeply relaxing, and it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during this time.
